I had heard about the grand opening of Luxe @ Billionaire Bay, but Gloria had reminded me after the show with TFA yesterday. We got dressed, and we headed out there.
What is Luxe? According to the promotion that they did prior to the event, “The next level of entertainment realism, from lighting, to lounging, to last-call, is coming to Second Life! A premiere high society nightclub, offering the most realistic and exclusive clubbing experience on the grid! Become a VIP member and rent a front row private table for a better view of the action, complete with private table host! Come dripping in diamonds, your most fabulous furs, order champagne and groove to SL’s best Club DJs, just prepare for a night you’re not soon to forget! “
I was interested in attending because I have been to a few of Uri’s gigs in the past, and he likes to do things big. So it would be nice to get in on the ground floor so to speak on his new venture.
We arrived around 5:30 PM SLT, with the first DJ playing at 6 PM. A lot of detail went into the decor, and it gave off a billionaire vibe for sure.
I had to upload these on Effigy because no matter how much I sized down these photos, the file size was too big for me to put them onto WordPress directly. Also, it’s always good to look into alternatives to Flickr.
I wanted to practice some DoF, so I decided to use it while taking pics. Also, the club has nice details, so it especially looks great here.
Gloria had a hard time staying in the club because of the lag. This reminded me of back in the days of The Galaxy…place was packed at night, and everyone was doing what they could to stay on SL lol. But tell me why you can see more detail in her dress in my photo than when I’m zoomed close to her? Weird. But she looks great, as always.
Team LUXE! Their IMs probably were exploding in the meantime, but it’s good that they got to dance for a bit.
This was when the first DJ had crashed – that’s why it says “Not Streaming”. I had hoped to get at least one DJ pic as well. But isn’t the dancers’ platform stunning? Wow.
Since the dance area was circular, I just cammed around and took a couple of more pictures before the lag really kicked in. The first DJ set had around 40+ people. But I would say around 7:30, the sim had 60+ people.
So today I went back out to explore the sim. 18765 traffic…*whistles*
This is the landing point, which is separate from the actual club. So if you go there today, and wonder where the actual traffic numbers are, just see where the parcel divides are on the sim.
I’m assuming this is the VIP section (one of them, anyway). From what I read, it’s 1k L to get VIP membership. And then from there you can pay for various table service. That was the thing that was a bit confusing. Do only VIP members get the special tables (and they still have to pay)? Or would regular club members be able to pay for a special table service for the night as well? Unless the VIP members get a discounted price…yeah, this is something I would have to look into again.
Hmm…a Ferris wheel. Does that mean that they have rides and games? 
I played a few of them – it was pretty cool. This would make a great outing destination.
And I was admiring the boats on the water.
I will definitely visit here again and attend more events, when time permits of course. If you visit, let me know what you think of the place ^^
